North Georgia's premiere WATERFALL WEDDING venue

Hightower Falls is a private event venue (not open to the public) that combines nature and elegant, yet rustic charm.

The backdrop for your perfect day is an 80 foot, spring fed, cascading waterfall and an 1850 stone gristmill ruin that has attracted people for over 150 years. Just one hour from Atlanta in the foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains, you'll find the beauty of nature at Hightower Falls is perfected by landscaping and flowers that create a breathtaking setting for your special occasion. Please note this is a family owned venue on private property, and we are not open to the public.

Along with your waterfall wedding, our beautiful grounds offer a relaxing and natural ambiance. A 24-foot-high sculptured iron gate entrance leads you into a hidden paradise: the bubbling stream below the waterfall runs in front of the gristmill, the Back Porch, Coosa Hall, and the horse pasture. There are 11 camping cabins located on a wooded hillside with a campfire area, pavilion, and bath house. On our 100 acres, we offer 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails which are habitat for deer and turkey. We want to make your special event one that you'll never forget- have a look around and get in touch with us to create timeless memories at Hightower Falls.

Meet the team

The photos just do not do this place justice! When I first toured it my jaw dropped when I saw the waterfall it is stunning! All the staff were amazing and so very kind. They answered all off my questions and were quick to respond any of my messages. Thank you all for making my wedding day so special and flow smoothly!

If I could give Hightower Falls 10 stars I would!! They made the entire wedding process so easy from the start. I live in Florida and was trying to plan my wedding from a distance (sight unseen too, I didn’t have time to travel to check the venue out beforehand.) Elizabeth answered all of my questions and made the booking process so easy.

We had the MOST PERFECT day at Hightower Falls! The venue is so beautiful, the accommodations are very nice, the Team and extended Vendor team were GREAT. I never thought I was building my dream wedding at 46 Years old and my first time marrying but it turned into a Dream come true! We got tons of compliments and most guests changed their profile pics to their families at the Falls.

KIND WORDS FROM

Hightower Falls owner Elizabeth Walls' family purchased the property in 1995 as a homestead. When they discovered the significance of its heritage, they were determined to share this slice of natural paradise and history with others in a limited capacity through private bookings for special occasions. Their goal is to present the beauty of nature in an inspiring and captivating setting, and to allow its visitors the opportunity to once again "return to nature."

our STORY

In 1832 a cotton gin was built next to an 80-foot waterfall in the foothills of Appalachia. In 1845, Elias Dorsey Hightower purchased around 2,000 acres and A cotton gin. He built a three-story mill using local stone and slave labor, ground what and corn on large stone wheels to make flour and cornmeal, and hosted professional Welsh herders that raised sheep for wool on the property.

During the Civil War, Union troops camped on Hightower's property, but left it miraculously untouched. He continued operations after the war and raised the falls several feet by building a dam at the precipice. He added a tannery and a sorghum syrup mill and had bee hives for honey. The mills operated into the 1930s.

The Hightower home, built in 1857, is 2 miles from the mills and has been extensively refurbished by its new owners. Mr. Hightower served in the General Assembly until his death in 1892.

For many years after the 1930s, people came to picnic, court, and explore the grounds. In 1972 Hightower Falls Park opened to the public. The Park was short-lived and closed within 2 years.
